A blast from the future

I have been a Tim Girvin fan for many years. He has long been one of the premiere calligraphers in the world. So I was excited to see his name on Will Sherwood's blog a couple of weeks ago—it was a real blast from the past. What I found is that there is nothing “past” about this innovator. His work is at the forefront of design and his knowledge of marketing and branding is second to none.

Wow.

What kind comments, coming from you -- I'm appreciative. It's interesting studying your blog analyses -- what I mean, is that the careful detailing of your intricate considerations of site details is very similar to my own. Sometimes, in exploring a site, one tends to study things that are more big picture. I find myself really examining the nuances -- the little touches, the smallish gestures, the tiny patterns, layers, visual storytelling that reaches to enhance the spirit of the site, the brand, the telling. I was thinking about Obama's site, by comparison to Clinton's -- and the inherent dimensionality of visioning there. Whether you're for him, or not, there's a wholly different brand personality and character shown there. And rather than flat -- which you might presume Clinton's to be, and surely McCain's presence -- there's a great presence of layered message and patterning there. I'm sure your study would be far more skilled. http://blog.girvin.com/?p=1188

All the best -- thanks!

Thanks for the post Tim. Yup, I love deconstructing the big picture.
