Better writing
The publishers of the Oxford Dictionary are experts on plain English. Here are a couple of pages I came across that will be of value to any designer or copywriter.
17 tips for keeping your writing user-friendly...
Interested in how the English language is changing, read about the Oxford English Corpus...

17 tips is good stuff but mostly honored in the breach. I noted a superfluous word so even Oxford finds it hard to do. Believe me clarity is hard work and keeping a paragraph moving takes practice. Every CIO needs a CLO (chief language officer) IMHO.

Not surprising (superfluous word). I doubt there is a site out there that does not contain at least a few grammatical errors and typos--it is such a difficult, time-consuming business to perfect language. And then, once you have, someone will disagree.
